Level 1 Course

4 hours or two 2 hour sessions

Session #1:       Fundamentals, bipedal mobility &

balance technique & games    2 hours

 You will learn:

  • Balance games including 'Stand Off' & 'Gorilla Game' & balancing games for one

  • Running & bipedal movement for efficiency

  • Swinging & climbing for back vitality

  • Games & drills to practice on your own or with others & much more!

Stand Off!

Session #2:       Quadrupedal Movement, Object Manipulation & Games

 You will learn:

  • Fundamentals of different getups, crawling, rolling, landing

  • Principles of carrying Objects

  • Principles of throwing objects

  • Self-massage using the ground & tennis balls

  • Games to challenge & test quadrupedal movements

  • Intro to combatives & much more!

You can either schedule the 4 hour playshop for one time or we can schedule 2 different meetings, for 2 hours each. If you sign up with other ppl (to save up to $115 by signing up with 2 ppl or more), the group will have to decide when they want to do the sessions, together.


If you want only the striking or only the ground game, simply half the price of the full Play-Shop.

About your Instructor



My name is Jared Hippler & I have been in love with movement from a very young age! As a baby, if I wasn't being walked, I would let you know!


I have played soccer, baseball, basketball, swimming, football, Pentathlons, etc, I love movement! I started my martial arts journey in 2007. After watching George St Pierre defeat Josh Koschkek, I was inspired! I started training that next morning on the UC Davis campus lawn right across the street from where I lived!



I started out getting coached by my roommate in Jiu Jitsu, then started getting officially trained in Judo at the University of Davis, CA from 2006-8. I trained in the Former Soviet Union in Kyrgyzstan from 2009-12, learning Muay Thai Kickboxing, Brasilian Jiu Jitsu & wrestling.


From 2012 to 2016, I continued learning Muay Thai & Jiu Jitsu in 5 different gyms, 4 in California & one in St Louis Missouri. I than trained & taught in rural Guatemala for 2017. I have trained at over 10 different martial arts gyms.

I am a 2 time pentathlon champion & national Runner up for 2016.

I began teaching beginner level Mixed Martial Arts & Self-Defense in 2014. I became a personal trainer & MovNat Trainer in 2014.


My courses are designed to be fun! These are non-intensive courses. The point is not for participants to get a workout, though everyone will. The purpose of this course is to teach you the basics, and give you games you can play that help train your reactions & allow you to master those basics in a fun way.
